Nighttime is the time to sleep and rest the restless mind. But for some going to bed is the beginning of their greatest problems. What I’m talking about here is nightmares, the scary and violent dreams that have us jumping out of bed and straight out through the window. But because dreams of terror and violence can lead to a miserable life in grown ups it is important to stop nightmares in adults.
A lot of nightmares are caused by post traumatic stress; anxiety; fatigue; psychiatric illness; pregnancy and alcohol abuse. But these are not the major causes, there are worse ones. And this might come as a shock to you but stress and depression are the major causes. But when you think hard about it it makes sense. Naturally nothing positive can ever come out of a restless mind.
Exercise and positive meditation will surely ease stress levels. Exercise has the overall effect of getting rid of any tensions caused by stress. Believe it or not but the increased circulation of blood around the body definitely increases the supply of oxygen to your brain; more oxygen to the brain means less stress. That’s why drinking a lot of water can help.
Meditate positively on your life. Sit down and write down the nature of your nightmares. Usually nightmares stem from unfinished business in our lives. Then you should try to reverse your thoughts and focus on your nightmares in a positive light. If you’re always dreaming about being arrested you should think hard about staying out of trouble.
Post traumatic stress is a major cause of concern. Being reminded of scary episodes in your life can have an impact on your dreams. If you were arrested and sent to prison for something you didn’t do you will always be scared when you’re around police. As a remedy you can run away from police and shunning away any images related to that. But a better remedy can be facing your fears because some of these things cannot be avoided.
Condition your mind into having happy dreams. And whilst this might seem impossible it is as possible as it seems. Try thinking about your dreams with a better and more positive ending. Once your mind starts thinking like this it will be very easy to transform the nature of your dreams.
